What changed: more snow and a season until November 8
- Valle Nevado — open until November 8; 143 days, its longest season ever
- La Parva — until October 18; considering a few extra days
- El Colorado — until October 18
- Snow — about 1.2 m in 48 hours in early October and around 7 m for the winter
The driver is El Niño. Chile's weather service (DMC) said it favors above-normal rain in central Chile during spring and late storm systems, which is why it rained in Santiago in October while it kept snowing up in the Andes. After a storm, the mountain road may require chains or close for a few hours. Check road status and the resort's snow report the day before.

Why the rental starts at CLP $24.900: the comparison
So the price is not just a claim: these are the prices other Santiago rental shops published on October 9, 2026, for the same product, skis or snowboard with boots and poles for one day.
- Tuki — CLP $24.900 — booked and paid online, any day
- Da'Ski — CLP $29.000
- Ski Ahorro — CLP $29.900 — Monday to Thursday only, paid in store

The day: schedule and spring snow
Pick up your gear at La Casa del Ski, Vitacura 9016, from 07:00. The bus leaves between 07:00 and 07:30, reaches the resort between 10:00 and 12:30 depending on traffic, meets at 16:45 to head down and drops you back between 18:00 and 19:00. One departure a day: you choose the day, not the time.
Spring snow is hard early, softens by mid-morning and gets heavy in the afternoon, so arriving between 10:00 and 12:30 puts you in the best part of the day. Sunscreen and goggles are a must: October and November sun on fresh snow burns more than it looks.
What costs extra: the lift ticket
No pack includes the lift pass. At Valle Nevado you buy it at the resort or on its website and the price changes by date; in peak season it was around CLP $74.000 plus $6.000 for the reloadable card, and buying online in advance is cheaper. If you only want to play in the snow, you don't need a ticket: Clothing + Boots plus the transfer covers the day.
